Sossion’s Application for PS Position Thrown out by Public Service Commission

Former Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary General Wilson Sossion had made an application for the Principal Secretary position but his ambitions were rebuffed by the Public Service Commission (PSC).

Other popular people from the camps of President William Ruto and Raila Odinga also experienced setbacks after their applications for the PS jobs were thrown out by the PSC.

Some of those who were left out of the shortlist had shown their interest in the various elective positions but lost in party primaries or in the General elections.

Interviews for the position are set to be held on Wednesday.

Analysis of the list of applicants released by the Public Service Commission (PSC) shows former Ndhiwa MP Agostinho Neto, former KNUT sec-gen Wilson Sossion, Justina Wangui Wamae, former Bomet Senator Christopher Lang’ata, former Emgwen MP Alex Kosgey, former Laikipia woman representative Cate Waruguru, former Turkana Central MP John Lodepe, Farmers Party Leader Irungu Nyakera and former Lamu Senator Anuar Loitiptip.

The others were Kanu Women Congress National Chairperson Betty Adera, Mining and Petroleum Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) John Mosonik, United Democratic Movement (UDM) secretary-general David Ohito, former Kamukunji MP Simon Mbugua, former South Mugirango MP Omingo Magara, ANC boss Musalia Mudavadi’s spokesperson Kibisu Kabatesi and former nominated Senator Alice Milgo.

Initially, the PSC released names of 477 shortlisted candidates for the PS jobs after receiving 9,154 applicants.

However, the list was expanded to 585 candidates after adding 108 more people.

According to the agency, this was done in order to increase inclusivity with regard to gender, marginalized and minority groups, the youth and persons living with a disability.

After ditching Raila for Ruto’s camp, Wilson Sossion vied unsuccessfully for the Bomet Senator’s Seat after losing to Hillary Sigei in the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) nominations back in April.

Some of the individuals set to be interviewed are those close to President Ruto and those who have links to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
