Ministry of Education Conducts Promotions, Transfers and demotions of County and Regional Directors of Education
The Ministry of Education has conducted a countrywide reshuffle with promotions, transfers and demotions having been handed out to various county and regional directors of education.
In the changes Kajido County Director of Education (CDE) Pius Kosgey has been transferred to Embu County in the same capacity.
His replacement is Martin Cheruiyot who had been serving at Kwale County.
Joseph Ole Maki got a promotion after serving as the Sub-County Director in Keiyo North and shall now serve as a full County Director after being posted to Marsabit CDE.
He will be replacing Titus Mbatha who has been posted to Embu County with the responsibility of leading education initiatives.
James Ongachi who had been the Sub-County Director of Education in Nairobi has also been promoted and will now be working as a CDE in Elgeyo.
He will replace Kituyi Masibo who has been posted to Baringo County in the same position of CDE.
The CDE of Kirinyaga David Radeny has been transferred to Nyanza Regional Director’s office. He had served in the office briefly after being posted as a replacement for David Odhiambo who had retired.
West Pokot CDE Francis Shikanda, a former secondary school headteacher had been deployed to the Western Regional Director’s office. His replacement was not revealed immediately.
The former Regional Director of Education (RDE) Elizabeth Otieno, has been recalled to the headquarters of the Ministry of Education to be assigned duties.
According to reports, she was reportedly replaced by Rose Atoni who had been serving as the Nyeri CDE.
Peter Munene will be her assistant and has been serving as the immediate former County Director of Education at Kisumu.
Ann Njogu will take over Aroni’s previous position who had been serving as the Narok CDE and shall be replaced by Apollo Apuko who had been serving as the education boss in the neighbouring County of Bomet.
Apuko’s replacement will be Ndung’u who had been serving at the Rift Valey RDE’s office.
In the demotions, Siaya CDE Nicholas Oyuchob has been posted to the Nyanza RDE office together with Boniface Ouko who had been serving as the Nyamira CDE.
.Zachary Mutuiri who had been serving as the Nandi CDE is Ouko’s replacement. His replacement is Harisson Muriuki who had been serving as the Uasin Gishu CDE.
Josephine Olela is also in the same boat after being demoted from the Position of Turkana CDE and shall now operate as the Western RDE.
Rose Sagalla who has been serving as the Kericho CDE will move to the Nakuru RDE office with Nancy Afwande, the Busia CDE moving to the Eastern RDE’s office in Embu.
Afwande’s replacement is James Ekalia who has received a promotion from being a Sub-County Director of Education to be a full director.
Ekalia had been serving at Kibish Sub-County in Turkana County.
Ngonesh replaces Sagalla after serving as the Sub-County Director for Marakwet West.
In another promotion, Trans-Nzoia CDE Luke Chebet has been deployed to Coast as the RDE.
Nairobi’s Regional Director of Education Fredrick Kiiru has been transferred to the Eastern region in the same position.
Margaret Lesuuda who had been serving at Jogoo House had been redeployed as the RDE to Nairobi. She previously worked in the Eastern region in the same capacity.
Stephen Barongo the RDE of the Western region is set to serve as the head of the Basic Education Directorate at Jogoo House. Nereah Olick who is set to retire had been serving in the same position prior to Barongo’s appointment.
Eastern RDE Dr William Sugut has also received a recall letter from the Ministry headquarters to replace Director in charge of Competence-Based Curriculum (CBC).
