KPSSA: Junior Secondary School to join Primary School’s Athletic Events

According to the Kenya Primary School Sports Association (KPSSA) Chairperson, junior secondary school students will join their colleagues in primary school in games activities,

Grade Seven (7) learners will take part in the field and track events that were rolled out for primary schools.

In the KPSSA letter addressed to all Regional, County and Sub-County secretaries listed in the 2023 track and field events.

The following are the rolled-out track events.

1. 100 metres Boys/Girls
2. 100 metres Hurdles Girls
3. 100 metres Hurdles Boys
4. 200 metres boys/girls
5. 400 metres boys/girls
6. 400 metres boys/girls
7. 800 metres boys/girls
8. 1500 metres boys/girls
9. 2000 metres steeplechase
10. 3000 metres boys/girls
11. 5000 metres boys/girls
12. 5000 metres boys/girls
13. 4 x 100 metres relay boys/girls
14. 4 x 400 metres relay boys/girls
15. 44 x 400 metres mixed relay

The rolled-out field events are as follows:

1. High Jump boys/girls
2. Long jump boys/girls
3. Javelin boys/girls
4. Discuss boys/girls
5. Shot put boys/girls
6. Triple jump boys/girls
7. Pole vault (Regional/National)

Requirements for learners participating in the events this year are as follows:

• Duly filled introductory form signed and endorsed by the Headteachers (attached).
• An athlete’s full photograph taken with the Headteacher and endorsed by the Headteacher at the back (no Group photo)
• Photocopy of birth certificate endorsed by the Headteacher,
