Kibabii University Appoints Professor Kiriamiti as New Deputy Vice-Chancellor

Kibabii University has announced the appointment of Prof Henry Kiriamiti as the new Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Academic and Student affairs.

This was done during a handover ceremony that was attended by the institution’s management.

Prof Kiriamiti replaced Prof Franklin Wabwoba, Dean of the School of Computing and Informatics who had been serving in an acting capacity since the beginning of July.

Kiriamiti is a certified professor in the field of Process and Environmental Engineering and is in the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering.

Previously, Professor Kiriamiti served as a full professor at Moi University in the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering. He also represented the school of engineering at Moi University senate since February 2018.

Between 2015 and 2018, Kiriamiti served as the Vice Chancellor of Kenya Methodist University which had around 8500 students and 420 teaching and administrative staff.

Between May 2013 and June 2015, he served as the deputy principal at Garissa University College which also had around 8500 students and 95 teaching staff.

He was also the Deputy Director of Mine in the Department of Mining Metallurgy Engineering Polytechnic in Nairobi.

Between 2007 and 2011, he served as the dean of Moi University’s engineering school which had around 2100 students after getting promoted from the head of the department of chemical and process engineering.

“Kibabii University overwhelmingly welcomes Professor Kiriamiti, a man who has both the experience and charisma to deliver for our institution following his tremendous groundbreaking records and achievements,” said Kibabii University’s VC Prof Odeo during the handover ceremony.

Kibabii University was established on November 14, 2016, following the upgrading of the former Kibabii University College by President Uhuru Kenyatta

Kibabii University College was a constituent college of Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST).

Kibabii University is the only chartered University in Bungoma County and has a student population of around 6000.

The University has two faculties: arts and social sciences and science, with five schools: computing and informatics school, business and economics school, nursing school, education school and the graduate studies school.

The institution offers 18 undergraduate programs, 17 master’s programs and nine PhD programs.
