Headteacher Gets Arrested As Three Pupils Are Found With Phones, Police Officer Gets Attacked
Three pupils were found with mobile phones in the examination room and the school headteacher was arrested over the issue.
A headteacher in Mandera has been arrested over examination cheating after three Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) were found in possession of mobile phones in the examination room.
Confirming the arrest, Mandera’s CIO Benedict Kigen revealed that the Tawakal Primary School teacher was arrested after three mobile phones were found having phones on Tuesday at the school located in the examination room.
“We have arrested Tawakal Primary headteacher and we are interrogating him on how three of his candidates accessed the examination room while in possession of mobile phones,” said Kigen.
Kigen revealed that the three were fed with answers by accomplices from the neighbouring primary school.
“We suspect the answers were sent from a neighbouring examination centre. Once confirmed, we will also arrest the headteacher of that school too,” said Kigen.
Besides, the CIO also revealed that detectives are probing another incident where a police officer was stoned at the same examination centre on Monday by people who are yet to be identified.
The said individuals stoned the police officer after they had tried to sneak a mobile phone into the school compound. We shall know the facts once we arrest other suspects and conclude our investigations,” said Kigen.
