University of Kabianga Closes Indefinitely Here is What Happened

The University of Kabianga was closed for an indefinite period following students’ protests over the increase in fees.

The University of Kabianga is located in Belgut, in Kericho County.

The communication over the closure of the school was done via an internal memo which the University Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Academics and Student Affairs, Prof Elijah Omwenga had signed.

The decision was made following a special meeting of the council.

Second-year students who joined in the academic year 2020/2021, third-year students who joined in 2019/2020, third-year students who joined in 2018/2019 and four-year students who joined in 2017/2018.

According to the internal memo, the students were instructed to leave the institution’s premises with immediate effect.
