The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) CEO Dr. Nancy Macharia on Monday, October 12th, announced the layoff of 30 teachers from service following offences against the TSC code of conduct.
Dr. Macharia also announced the registration of 8,500 new teachers to the commission’s register.
The 8,500 teachers aren’t a part of the 11,000 job vacancies that had been announced, this according to TSC Head of Corporate Communications Betty Wababu
“The 8,500 new registrations are just teachers that have been registered with us,” added Wababu.
TSC head of communications inadditon said that the number of teachers being recruited stood as had beeb reported.
“When the process ends, we are not going to recruit more teachers because we are usually funded by the National Treasury” added TSC head of Communication.
According to Wababu the 30 teachers have been dismissed waiting approval from the TSC CEO Dr. Nancy Macharia.
The 30 teachers dismissal follows a number of offences levelled against them.
Wababu said that the 30 teachers are in the process of being dismissed, and if they are approved, then it will be gazetted to confirm their dismissal.
“The offences committed by the teachers include forging of educational certification, immoral behaviour, and the other serious crime prescribed within the Teachers Code of Conduct,” said Wababu.
