Both public and private schools are set to have the longest holiday since the outbreak of the COVID-19 outbreak.
Schools were closed by the government in 2020 to curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic leading to a congested academic calendar up to the third term of 2022.
Secondary schools that did not close last week are set to do so this week due to the KCSE examinations which started on Monday.
Rehearsals for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) started on Friday last week with the examinations set to be done between the 21st of November and the 23rd of December 2023.
Some primary schools are closing today to allow for the Grade Six and Class 8 to sit for their Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) respectively.
The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has communicated that only a few people will be allowed in the examination centres. This is to ensure that people from outside cannot interfere and ruin the credibility of the national examinations.
The Circular shown below was issued by the examiner regarding unauthorized persons in examination centres during the examination period.
