SOTIK, Kenya — Basic Education Principal Secretary Amb. Prof. Julius Bitok will join forces with area Member of Parliament Amb. Hon. Francis Sigei to champion the regional implementation of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) during the highly anticipated Sotik Sub-County Education Day. Scheduled for Friday, May 5, 2026, the high-profile academic forum will take place at Kisabei Secondary School under the theme: “Strong Schools and Collaborative Leadership for Promoting Competency Based Education”.
The event kicks off a major developmental milestone for local schools. In a twin infrastructural and environmental drive, Amb. Sigei and PS Bitok will lead an institutional tree-planting exercise and officially commission a newly constructed, state-of-the-art multi-storey building at Kisabei Secondary School.
The new facility stands as a testament to Amb. Hon. Francis Sigei’s aggressive National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) transformation agenda.
Drawing from his deep diplomatic background as a former High Commissioner, the legislator has made educational infrastructure the cornerstone of his tenure.
Beyond the Kisabei project, Sigei’s targeted funding has rapidly delivered equipped Junior Secondary School (JSS) facilities across Sotik to ensure a smooth CBC transition, while a steadily expanded constituency bursary kitty continues to guard vulnerable learners from dropping out.
Following morning opening protocols led by Rev. Ernest Ng’eno, the event will spotlight the vibrant co-curricular talents of local learners.
Students from Lorna Laboso Girls Secondary School, Manaret Primary and Junior School, Kapcholyo Secondary School, and Kaplong Girls/Primary/Junior School are slated to deliver a series of presentations.
The day will culminate in crucial educational policy addresses from key sector leaders, including representatives from KESSHA, KEPSHA, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), and the Ministry of Interior.
Hosting MP Amb. Francis Sigei will articulate his long-term structural vision for local schools before officially welcoming Principal Secretary Amb. Prof. Julius Bitok to deliver his keynote address at noon.
Other than CBE matters, PS Bitok and the area MP, are expected among other issues, to address the rampant school strikes and student safety measures.
