Homabay County Commissioner Moses Lilan has warned parents of the repercussions that await them if they do not stop protesting against school principals and headteachers.
Recently, there have been a series of protests and demonstrations against headteachers in various primary and secondary schools in the county with parents demanding their transfer.
The protests have been occasioned by various grievances from parents ranging from allegations of mismanagement of school resources and poor performance.
However, Lilan warned parents not to hold protests in schools saying that they would be arrested and be arraigned in court.
Speaking to members of the media in his office, Commissioner Lilan urged parents to follow the correct procedure of addressing their grievances with the headteachers of schools.
Lilan implored parents that using the right channels will be more useful than taking matters into their own hands.
The Commissioner was responding to a number of protests by parents in Homabay County recently. His warning addressed the worrying trend of protesting parents and ensuring that school activities are not disrupted.
Indeed parents have the right to express their concerns about the school’s management of their children and their welfare but Lilan reiterated that protests are not the solution.
He called on parents to involve school authorities in a positive and constructive manner and work together in finding solutions to challenges in schools.
