More than 300 Pregnant Candidates Complete National Examinations in South Rift Region

More than 317 cases of pregnant candidates have completed their Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA), Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations in the South Rift Region.

According to the County Director of Bomet Apollo Apuko, 292 cases were from Bomet, Baringo, Narok and Naivasha counties.

Bomet County leads with 146 cases with Narok following closely with 120 cases while Baringo and Naivasha had 26 and 25 cases respectively.

However, Apuko had assured the pregnant candidates that the government guaranteed that they would do their examinations without any problems and the problem has come to pass.

“We are taking care of them and in case any one of them will deliver we will ensure that they have their examinations in the hospital,” said Apuko.

Apuko revealed that Bomet had a total of 29,391 KCPE candidates in 852 centres and 28,634 KCPE centres in 911.

On his part, County Commissioner Isaac Masinde had told the mothers-to-be that they would get the assistance they need when required, imploring them to sit for their examinations despite their condition.

“We want all the candidates to be treated equally so that they can sit for the national examinations comfortably. No child should feel disadvantaged because of their condition,” said Masinde.
