Teachers who were involved in the 2021 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination are set to be paid their dues after waiting for a long time.
This was after Bomet Centra Member of Parliament (MP) Ronald Tonui inquired why the teachers had not yet been paid in the National Assembly.
The MP also wanted the Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha to reveal when the payments will be made.
Even though the particular day for paying teachers who were involved in the administration of the 2021 KCSE examinations, KNEC is reportedly set to begin paying early next week before Magoha appears before MPs in Parliament where he may face questions on the same.
Within two weeks, CS Magoha is set to appear before the departmental committee on education and research and respond to issues that will be raised then.
The MP who is also KUPPET’s assistant national treasurer urged those concerned to undertake a review of the charges.
Dues of teachers who invigilated and supervised the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations have already been addressed with only a few primary school teachers complaining about missing out on payment despite being involved in the marking exercise.
During the supervision and marking of the last academic year’s national examinations, KNEC contracted 242,406 teachers.
Teachers have been complaining about various social media platforms but now their issues are set to be addressed in the coming days.
