The police arrested a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Soldier on Sunday afternoon in the Langas area located in Uasin Gishu County after he allegedly defiled a 12-year-old girl.
The KDF soldier Mr Elly Kipkoech is a KDF private based at 9KA, Second Bridge is currently being held at Langas Police Station over allegedly forcefully taking away the innocence of a 12-year0old minor who usually attends a primary school in Eldoret town.
The defiling incident happened on Saturday afternoon after which the young girl reported to her mother at around 7:30 p.m. that a man had held her hostage and defiled her.
Upon further scrutiny, the mother noticed bloodstains on the young girl’s underpants and implored her to reveal the perpetrator who had committed such a heinous act.
“The mother saw bloodstains on her daughter’s underpants and urged her to reveal the person who defiled her,” said the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.
After reporting, police from Eldoret used both cyber and digital forensics to track down the suspect who had opted to escape to the Green Park estate and arrested him.
Following this, the defiled innocent and young minor identified him as the perpetrator. Private KDF officer Elly Kipkoech is being held as he awaits being arraigned in court in following with military parlance.
Both the minor and the perpetrator have since undergone medical examinations at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital.
With a notable increase in cases of sexual offences, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations’s Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Protection Unit has been put on high alert and had promised to bring every perpetrator of such heinous acts to justice regardless of the status in the society.
