Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has warned ‘examination cartels’ ahead of the upcoming national examinations.
DP Gachagua was speaking on Friday the 11th of November at the New Mitihani House in South C in Nairobi where he oversaw the launch of the national examinations season.
Riggy G put unscrupulous officers in the education sector on notice saying that they will not be spared.
The said officers are believed to be operating as examination cartels who help in examination cheating.
DP Gachagua said that his government is committed to giving learners an equal playground as they strive to advance their education and be able to secure a better future.
“We want to have an equal playground for every child to score what they deserve and join their preferred secondary schools and tertiary institutions competitively. We urge vigilance and responsibility. Culprits will be dealt with decisively,” said Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) is set to oversee the 2022 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) national examinations between the months of November and December this year.
Rehearsals for the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) are set to be conducted on the 25th of November 2022 with the examinations officially starting on the 28th of November and ending on the 30th of November 2022.
KNEC has already provided the guidelines to be followed during the examination period to both teachers and candidates.
The examinations are then going to be marked and released before the first term of 2023 starts. 2023 is set to be an exceptional year with a double intake looming as class eight and Grade 6 learners proceed to secondary school and junior secondary school respectively.
