Baringo County Government has allocated Kes. 30 Million For the education sector in Vocational Training Colleges (VTCs), tertiary institutions, and secondary schools.
According to Governor Benjamin Cheboi, Kes. 18 million is meant for needy students in secondary schools while the remaining Kes. 12 million is to cater for school fees for learners in VTCs and tertiary institutions in the county.
The Governor of the County, while overseeing the Equity Bank’s Wings to Fly kitty for 16 beneficiaries, praised the effort made by Equity Foundation.
He said that many lives from poor backgrounds had been positively impacted and assured that the county government will collaborate with the National Government Constituency Fund (NG-CDF) and other non-state actors to add to their efforts.
“You have an enormous task ahead in the four-year journey in secondary school. We are determined to see you succeed and you have no option but to reciprocate the kind gesture,” said the Governor to the beneficiaries.
Governor Cheboi called on them to maintain integrity, discipline, and respect in their endeavors to prosper and become model citizens after they complete their studies.
Community Scholarship Selection Board (CSSB) Chairperson Mr. Samuel Bungei said that they had chosen the most deserving beneficiaries to benefit from their scholarship despite receiving a huge number of applications.
Mr. Bungei said that 453 pupils from the area had as at that time benefitted from the programme and urged other well-wishers and corporate organizations to follow the example of the foundation.
