Section-wise Preparation Strategy for AAI JE ATC Exam

The Airport Authority of India (AAI) conducts a nationwide exam every year to select eligible candidates for the post of Junior Executive (Air Traffic Control). This serves as a great opportunity for many young graduates who wish to work for the Airport Authority of India.

The Junior Executive (Air Traffic Control) exam organised by the Airport Authority of India is popularly known as AAI JE ATC exam and comprises two stages namely online examination and personal interview round.

The online examination tests the knowledge and understanding of candidates in five subjects mainly, English, General Intelligence/ Reasoning, Mathematics, Physics, General Knowledge/ Awareness.

To crack AAI JE ATC exam, candidates must ensure top-notch preparation in each section.

On that note, let’s talk about some important section wise preparation tips that will help you ace the AAI JE ATC exam in the first attempt.

English Language

A candidate can easily score above 15 marks in this section if he/she has good knowledge of basic grammar rules and above par vocabulary and comprehensive reading skills.

You should study various grammar rules about the eight parts of speech and their usage in sentences. Also, practice enough questions on fill in the blanks, error detection, para jumble, sentence rearrangement, active/passive voice, cloze test and more.

For developing vocabulary skills, you are advised to learn new as well as root words daily from books like Word Power Made Easy and use them on a daily basis. Furthermore, it is advised to read reputed English newspapers like THE HINDU, HINDUSTAN TIMES etc. daily. This will help you learn new words and their meaning, improve your comprehensive reading skills and keep you updated on the latest current affairs.

Lastly, attempt a few comprehension passages daily to ace these questions within less time during the exam.

General Intelligence/ Reasoning

It is highly recommended that you solve as many reasoning questions from previous years AAI JE ATC papers as you can. This will give you an idea of how the paper is set  and the type of questions to expect as well as the trends in weightage of different topics in the exam.

Also, go through the theory and examples in detail before you jump to solve questions in the exercises. Once done, start with simple questions as they will help you in momentum and then move to the advanced level questions.

Finally, identify topics carrying higher weightage and give them more time and effort.

Mathematics

This could be the most scoring section for you if you are able to calculate fast and have a sound understanding of the fundamentals behind every concept.

To speed up your calculations, you are advised to memorize tables, squares and cubes upto at least 20, 30 and 20 respectively. Furthermore, learn important formulas and short tricks in each topic as they save time and get to the answer quickly by cutting short a number of lengthy steps in solution.

Most of the mathematics questions asked in AAI JE ATC exam are concept based and are of advanced level. Little doubts in your understanding of the fundamentals behind concepts can impede your ability to solve these questions.

This is also important as in mathematics fundamentals and concepts of one topic form the base of concepts in other topics. Also, focus more on important topics as they can fetch you a good score in the exam.

Physics

Start with a 12th class NCERT book to get a good grip on the basic concepts. The physics section covers three parts mainly, optics and atomic structure, electricity and magnetism and mechanics, thermodynamics and gravitation.

You can easily score 50 percent marks in the physics section if you have thorough knowledge of the basics and concepts in optics and atomic structure.

In electricity and magnetism, learn basic concepts and formulas in topics such as Electrical Resistance, Alternating Current, Electronic Devices, Electrical Power, Electromagnetic Waves and others.

In the case of Mechanics, thermodynamics and gravitation go through the theory in kinematics, Laws of Motion, Gravitation, Wave and Oscillation and solve different types of numerical in them.
