KNEC Directs ECDE College Principals to Collect Their 2021 KNEC Results
The Kenya National Examinations Council has told Principals of Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) colleges that the 2021 results are ready for pick up.
The examiner has used both Short Message Text and electronic mail to pass this directive to ECDE college principals who are now going to visit the Mtihani House in Nairobi for their respective college’s results.
Besides, those who will fail i.e. those who will get referrals will have a chance to resit for the papers.
Many ECDE colleges are not going to offer ECDE teacher training following the inception of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) with only the selected Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs).
Students who shall join Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) will be required to attain a minimum grade of C (Plain). This means any form Four leavers with grades will have to make do with other professions that allow lower grades than grade C (Plain) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary (KCSE) examination.
On the other hand, those studying Diploma in Early Childhood Teacher Education (DECTE) go through three years to complete the course with the requirement to join set at the mean grade of C (Plain) in the KCSE examinations. In addition to the mean grade of C plain, the teacher trainees must attain C (plain) in Mathematics, English and Kiswahili, in Humanities (any one subject in humanities) and a mean grade of C plain in sciences.
For those candidates with special needs, their entry grade is set at C- (Minus) at the KCSE as well as in the aforementioned subjects.
