Embakasi Member of Parliament (MP) has once again shown his good heartedness after he awarded a full scholarship to Form One (1) students who missed out on Form One admission over a lack of school fees.
The two students Brian Nyamache and Mercy Bunareli performed well in the 2021 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) but were unable to join their respective secondary schools due to a lack of school fees.
The MP revealed that he was awarded the full schorlaship to the two students until they complete their secondary education after they failed to join Form One over the school fees problem.
“Following the story aired on Citizen TV yesterday about 2 students from Embakasi East who have lacked fees to join Form One that I was not aware of, I have today met the students with their parents and awarded them full scholarship for the secondary school education. May God bless my people of Embakasi East Republic,” revealed Babu Owino.
The two learners are members of the same family and are siblings. Nyamache had attained 398 marks while his sister had gotten 361 marks. However, they almost missed out on Form One over due to a lack of school fees.
The two were not eligible to be awarded the Elimu Scholarship Program because they attended a private primary school.
The mother of the two, Grace Mukabana revealed that she was not going to be able to pay for her children’s school fees and that she had been doing dead end jobs to cover the needs of her children.
She also revealed that the headteacher of their primary school was the one who supported them through their primary school education amid financial issues.
