According to eyewitness reports, the male student, identified by peers as Chama, attacked the girl following an alleged dispute over relationship matters. Armed with a knife, the suspect reportedly waited for the victim outside the church compound before stabbing her three times in the stomach.

Fleeing the bloody scene, the assailant attempted to hide in a nearby tea plantation. However, enraged members of the public tracked him down and assaulted him before handing him over to local police authorities.
