Schools are set to resume games activities following a two-week break for the midterm break which coincided with the General Elections held on August 9, 2022.
Secondary and primary school games resumed this week at the sub-county level across the country ahead of games that will be held in this coming week.
Most county secondary schools’ Sports associations have revealed new dates following the interruption of the games occasioned by the two-week break.
Mombasa, Kwale, Machakos and Kakamega county games are going to be held from Tuesday to next Saturday at different designated venues.
In Mombasa, county games will be held at Shanzu Teachers Training College and the Shimo la Tewa High School on Thursday and Friday.

Games in Kwale will be held at Kinango Secondary School where all participants will be expected to report to the school on Thursday before the games kick off on Friday and Saturday. Boys will be accommodated at Kinango Boys Secondary School while girls will be hosted at Vigurunguni School.
Games in the Yatta sub-county will end on 20th August 2022 at Katangi Secondary School ahead of the Machakos County games that begin on Tuesday.
Elsewhere in Kakamega County, School games are set to be held from Wednesday to Saturday to select games for their Western region tournament scheduled from August 21 to September 3 at the Mumias Sports complex.
Kakamega who are former champions were drawn in Group A alongside Burangasi, Shanderema and Mwihila while Group comprises Koyonzo, Matunda and Butere Boys.
Group C has Munyuki, St. Peters, Musingu and Mahanga. St Mary’s Mwitoti, Lugusi and Mumias Muslim are placed in Group D.
Following the halting of all sporting activities in schools to curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus, co-curricular activities resume in May this year with athletics championships being held at Kigari in Embu.
In Nyanza, games kick off in Kisumu West sub-county at Maseno School today where SinyoGirls who are hockey heavyweights will be seeking to continue their dominance.
Yesterday, Sinyolo Girls hockey coach Peter Wangla revealed that they are ready for the games despite the stoppages which affected their preparations.
“We are ready for the games. The girls had prepared well for the sub-county games before we went for the election break and I believe they have gotten enough rest,” Wangla said.
Sinyolo is seen by many as the favourite to dominate hockey, basketball, handball and football.
Maseno School is many peoples’ favourites in rugby are expected to dominate the Rugby 7s as well as in football, basketball and handball.
