The Cabinet Secretary of Education Prof George Magoha has today, Monday the 14th of September, claimed that the Board of Management BOM teachers have been paid.
Prof Magoha was addressing the media after the education stakeholders’ meeting held on Monday the 14th of September 2020.
In his address, the Prof said,” BOM teachers should now actually have been paid…”
The CS said the government, approved payment for the BOM teachers several weeks ago.
“The Cabinet and the government approved their (BOM teachers) payment over six weeks ago…,” said the Education CS.
“…so let us not waste so much energy discussing non-issues,” added Prof Magoha.
No Clear Road Map for Reopening of Schools
The stakeholders’ meeting led by the Education did not come out with a clear road map towards the reopening of schools, contrary to expectations of the general public.
Prof Magoha said that decisions regarding the reopening of learning institutions depended on reports obtained from the Ministry of Health.
“We have looked at all aspects and we – as stakeholders – have come to a consensus that indeed it is time to relook this process (reopening of schools) … the doctor has told us the curve is flattening,” said Prof Magoha.
Magoha hit back on the media saying that information on public domain concerning the reopening of schools was simply opinions.
“All that was being said and printed in the newspapers were your opinions, there is only one bonafide spokesperson for the Ministry of Education and that person, for the time being, is the Cabinet Secretary, who happens to be my most humble self, “Magoha said.
The Education CS said that the decision on whether to reopen schools or not will be announced after a mega stakeholders’ meeting that is expected to take place on or before September 25th, 2020.
CS Matiangi and CS Kagwe will head that larger stakeholders’ conference.
In terms of working relations between him (Prof Magoha) and the Kenya National Union of Teachers Knut Secretary General Hon. Wilson Sossion, the CS had this to say:
“Whoever wants us to continue fighting with Sossion has failed miserably, you can ignore the message that went across that Sossion is opposing what we’re doing. It is not true.”
How Kenyans Responded to CS Magoha’s Adress
Kenyans did waste any chance of taking the Prof head-on after his address to the media. Here is the compilation of some of the reactions.
Prof Magoha the supposed performing CS,Education is telling us he’ll form-I don’t know-c’mttee to advise a c’mttee to advise him so that he advise the principal(I guess his boss)on when education will resume post Covid 19.Parents & all dumbfounded at this high level indeciveness.

George Magoha has had 8months to prepare schools for re-opening in January. Clearly, COVID-19 is here for long. If the schools are not ready in January, it is because Magoha has failed in his job. He’s gambling with the country’s future. #Malala #KoraneIsInnocent #REOPENSCHOOLS

In short George Magoha called a meeting to tell us there will be another meeting? Can the govt @StateHouseKenya pay this man off and hire a serious human being. 😤😤 https://t.co/CnwHEORpT7

I think opening schools should be the last thing we would think about as Kenyans , we should wait untill we have zero case reported and wait for another two weeks or even more after the zero reported case of COVID19,its about life ooh.— kelly Bee (@Kellyphysist) September 14, 2020

Hey magoha, the owner of the most detailed CV, the most educated from 1952 cohort, the founder of CBC, the struggling CS, the CS who is forcing issues, the CS who is only visiting private universities and TVET institutions and not public universities, what exactly do you want?

George Magoha is the living proof of Permanent Head Damage (PhD). I mean he never makes sense at all.

If magoha claims to have paid BOM teachers 6 weeks ago and no teacher has received a penny, whom did he pay? #PayBOMteachers
