The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has implemented a massive transfer drive of National, Extra County, and Sub-County school principals across the country.
The mass transfer of teachers affected 14,613 teachers and this is part of the TSC’s delocalization policy which started four years ago.
According to the Teachers Service Commission’s (TSC) Chief Executive Officer Dr. Nancy Macharia, 12,019 teachers will be placed in inter-country transfers while 2594 teachers will be placed in inter-regional transfers. Out of these 226 of them are school principals.
The transfers will be executed at the TSC Regional Director of Education’s office for inter-county transfers while the Commission Headquarters will effect inter-regional transfers.
This transfer will impact several schools as new principals will be taking over from retiring or transferred individuals.
In the transfers, Veronica Wahome was transferred from Bishop Gatimu Ngandu Girls in Nyeri to Kenya High School while Kakamega High School Principal; Gerald Orina is returning to his home County of Kisii.
Principal Manoah Mwambwa Whycliffe has been transferred from Sori Secondary School to Ramba Boys High School while Florence Achieng Omondi will move to Ng’iya Girls located in Siaya County.
Chief Principal to Nanyuki High School, Oliver Manish, has retired and this will allow Solomon Koech from Kangaru School to take over.
Paul Weloba from Shikunga Secondary School in Kakamega County has been appointed principal of Friends School Kamusinga in Bungoma County.
Mathews Linge retired from Ofafa Jericho, Nairobi and his replacement is Anthony Thuo from Miwani High School.
Huruma Girls Principal Grace Macharia will join St. Georges Girls in Nairobi while Caroline Maina who was the principal of Buru Buru Girls has retired with his replacement being Stella Wambua from AIC Sengani Girls, Tala in Machakos.
Leonard Karau, the Diaga Secondary School Principal has been transferred to a school in Ntrimiti located near Kisima in Buuri Sub-county in Meru County.
Kwibancha Girls, Ntimaru, Moi Nyatike Secondary, and Okenge Mixed have also not been left out of the reshuffling.
Richard Sang has been transferred from Kaplong Boys High School to Kabianga High School in Kericho where he will replace Dr. Joash Aloo.
Koderobara CEO Isaac Okeyo has also taken over from James Momayi at Agoro Sare High School while St. Mary’s Mabera Girls Principal has been relocated to St. Charles Lwanga Ichuni.
The exception was the cancellation of the Transfer of Tenwek High School Chief Principal who has been retained in his current school as Principal and teacher of Kiswahili/History.
The reshuffling of school principals is intended at improving the system of education and ensuring that schools are managed by capable head teachers.
