The Ministry of Education has warned schools against carrying out holiday coaching even though KCPE candidates finish their examinations today.
Via an internal memo to all County Directors of Education, the Ministr of Education’ Permanent Secretary (PS), Dr. Julia Jwan said that if teachers are involved in teaching learners during the holiday, they will be arrested and arraigned in court.
Besides, the PS said that schools that will be found doing these offence shall be deregistered and their school registration certificates revoked.
Dr. Jwan said that the current Grade 4 learners will reopen in the 26th of July, 2021. Schools have already closed by 19th of March, 2021.
Grade four learners will be joining Grade 5 when they reopen in July.

Schools had until 19th March to upload the Grade 4 formative assessment scores.
“Schools are therefore expected to download and administer the assessment tools; score; and upload the Grade 4 learners’ assessment scores on the KNEC Competency-Based Assessment portal cba.knec.ac.ke between 8th and 19th March 2021,” said KNEC.
However, poor servers would make the process of uploading scores difficult and this led to KNEC extending the deadline indefinitely.
“KNEC has confirmed that the grade 3 and 4 portalshave mechanical problems and they are making every effort to rectify the problem. The deadline given earlier for uploading of Grade 3 assessment outcomes will be extended when the system is back. You can meanwhile be checking the system but do not be stressed,” KNEC said via their official social media handles.
KNEC had instructed all Headteachers to keep all records generated from the assessment as evidence for use in quality assurance.
