Peter Cheruiyot, the Rift Valley County Director for Technical and Vocational Education (TVET) institutes has called on registrars of TVET institutions to market their institutions to get more enrolment.
Cheruiyot is the director of Nakuru, Bomet, Baringo and Kericho Counties.
He said that TVETs have low student numbers because of doing little in the aspect of marketing.
While attending five-day registrars training at the Rift Valley Institute of Science and Technology (RVIST) Cheruiyot said that if members of the public are well informed about the importance of taking technical courses in TVETs, more will enrol for the programmes.
“TVET administrators should take advantage of marketing strategies to increase enrolment in their schools,” said Cheruiyot.
In addition, he said that many class 8 and Form 4 leavers can continue their studies in TVETs and still go on to be dependable citizens after being given the relevant technical skills.
He implored the registrars to use the knowledge for their training to boost the images of their respective TVET institutions.
“Use the skills and knowledge you acquire here to build the image of your TVET institutions,” said Cheruiyot.
He also said that a good public image attracts more learners and trainers.
