The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has conducted a reshuffling with transfers and promotions of senior officers at the TSC headquarters and the field.
The latest changes have been caused by some of the TSC officers exiting through the retirement of previous officer holders and the need to boost service delivery.
Rita Wahome who has been serving as head of Staffing at TSC has been moved to the Field Services position to replace Mary Rotich who retired earlier this year.
Antonina Lentojoini who was her deputy has been appointed in the acting capacity pending substantive appointment. Staffing is one of the most critical departments in the Commission,s Secretariat.
Previously, Ms Wahome had been in various positions but was suspended last year owing to unclear circumstances but was later reinstated by the Commission’s Chief Executive Officer Dr Nancy Macharia.
She has been serving as head of staffing although her boss prefered to work with her deputy, Antonina Lentojoini.
In the changes, several County Directors, Deputy Directors and Sub-County Directors were reshuffled with others being interdicted.
On the other hand, Kakamega County Director John Nzuvu has been moved to Baringo to replace James Nyakweba who retired at the beginning of this year.
Everlyne Kinaka, who had been serving as Nyakweba’s deputy has been acting as the Director. However, her hopes of being confirmed for the position were dashed after being interdicted for allegedly involved in a scandal involving questionable recruitment of teachers in Tiaty sub-counties.
The two Sub-County Directors from the region were also interdicted over the same allegations. Juma Lomurgelem (Tiaty East) and Jared Wepukhulu (Tiaty East) were the officers affected.
The Siaya Sub-County Director Dr Esther Njiru was also transferred to Taita-Taveta County to replace Peter Mugo who retired recently.
Aneriko Maloba who has been serving as the Tana-River Director has now been moved to Siaya as Njiru’s replacement.
David Gutu has been posted to Tana-River County after serving as the Deputy Director at Makueni.
Margaret Kamau who has been serving as Migori Director will now relocate to Embu following a short period of serving at her current station.
Ann Wawuda will replace him after being promoted from Sub-County Director to County Director. Her previous station was Matungulu Sub-County in Machakos County.
Margaret Kinyanjui who had been serving at Embu has now been moved to Kakamega and will be replaced by Kamau.
In Kisii, Director Jane Mwaniki has now been moved to Kitui to replace Solomon Odipo who has now retired while Ms Anne Wachira who has been serving as Machakos Director takes over from Mwaniki.
Turkana Director Lewis Mutego has been moved to Machakos as Ms Wachira replacement. In another reshuffle, Florence Momanyi who had been serving as the Deputy Director at Kakamega has now been promoted to the full director and then posted to Isiolo. She will replace Mr Wachira who has been moved to Lamu.
Ali Husein who has been working as both Deputy County Director at Mombasa and Mvita Sub-County Director has now been promoted to be the full director and has been posted to Turkana to replace Mutegi.
Hussein will be replaced by Caren Achieng Onthoro who has been serving as the Sub-County Director for Kakamega East,
Samm Loitakol who has been serving as the Deputy Director of Laikipia County has now been promoted and now heads to Marsabit as the new County Director. He replaces Russel Wafula who was interdicted recently.
Wafula is at the moment involved in a case over a questionable sale of vehicle spare parts that came about at his previous station at Nyandarua County.
Other Deputy County Directors have also been moved with the Deputy of Turkana Wilfred Mosigisi who has swapped places with Solomon Buyela from Nandi.
Francis Saina has now been moved from Vihiga to Migori as the Deputy Director who shall replace James Biego who retired recently.
Despite these changes, the Commission is set to make more changes in the coming days.
