The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is set to begin posting teachers who were recently recruited to schools starting from Monday next week.
In the December 2022, the TSC advertised for mass recruitment and invited teachers across the country to apply for the 35,550 slots available in primary and secondary schools.
9,000 posts were allocated for permanent and pensionable terms of service for secondary school teachers while 1,000 posts were allocated primary school teachers.
A further 21,550 slots were allocated to teacher interns meant for junior secondary schools and 4,000 posts were allocated for teacher interns in primary schools.
TSC set the 23rd of January 2023 as the reporting date for the newly-recruited teacher interns but this was not met as the process of recruitment had not been completed.
The Commission now intended to post the intern teachers to junior secondary where learners are still attending but receiving no teaching since the teachers are yet to be deployed.
In the coming week, schools will start receiving Form 1 students who will be joining their schools of choice.
The 21,550 teacher interns for JSS will be charged with teaching more than 1.26 million Grade Seven learners.
The Commission is currently receiving applications from primary school teachers with degree and diplomas in secondary option for deployment to junior secondary school.
PTE teachers who qualified were submitted to submit their details online for the deployment process via the link: https://tsconline.tsc.go.ke/tsc-teacher/login
However, it is only teachers who serve under permanent and pensionable terms in public primary schools who meet the requisite qualifications can apply.
According to the Commission the application exercise will end on Monday the 6th of February 2023.
