The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has issued an Internal Memo to all County Directors to provide data on Guidance and Counselling teachers in their counties as per the provided templates.
This is in light of the recent student unrest in schools, there have been called from various stakeholders for the Guidance and Counselling departments of schools to be looked into. Stakeholders are likely to suggest various ways of dealing with the ongoing students’ unrest.
The Kenya National Union of Teachers for instance has opposed Cabinet Secretary for Education’s suggestion that caning should be reintroduced in schools. KNUT has argued that caning will only add more firewood to the ongoing crisis. They suggested the abolishment of boarding schools citing examples of countries that have done the same in Europe and America.

GUIDANCE AND COUNSELLING TEACHERS
The Teachers Service Commission is a Constitutional Commission established under article 237 of the constitution and is mandated to manage teachers in its employment.
In this regard, schools have identified teachers with the requisite skills to handle Guidance and Counselling in schools. You are hereby required to provide data on Guidance and Counselling teachers from your county as per the attached templates.
Use different templates for Primary, Secondary and Teacher Training Colleges.
Submit the data via email address tscregionaldirectorriftvalley@gmail.com on or before 4th February, 2021 in EXCEL FORMART.
