The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has called in its field officers for a consultative meeting that will be held for two days at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD).
According to reports, regional directors and county directors across the country are set to attend the two-day meeting starting from tomorrow, the 6th till the 7th of April.
No agenda concerning the meeting has been aired publicly but some County Directors have speculated that the main agendas may be the training of secondary school teachers on the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) and the impact of the upcoming national elections on teaching in learning institutions
In a previous announcement, the Commission revealed that it was planning to train more than 60,000 teachers in secondary schools on the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
According to the field officials, the Commission could look to use the field officials to pass a warning to teachers to avoid being involved in the political party nominations and cement the point that teachers should be non-partisan.
The reporting structure for field officers was reorganized in December 2021, with all field officers reporting directly to the TSC CEO, Nancy Macharia unlike in the past when they were reported to the Head of the Teacher Management Directorate.
