Three family members Arrested for Allegedly Beating 15-Year-Old Daughter to Death

Police from Kilimani areas are currently investigating three people over an incident that led to the death of a 15-year-old school-going student.

The girl who died was attending Kiteta Girls Secondary School in Mbooni is suspected to have died following a beating from family members.

The suspects under investigation are the child’s mother, father, and brother to the teenager who is alleged to have died after a beating over running away from home.

The three individuals were nabbed after the death of the girl in hospital and shall be arraigned in court on Monday after the police have completed investigations.

A post-mortem is scheduled to take place at the Coptic Mortuary to identify the cause of the girl’s death. This will then allow the police to press charges against the suspects if there will be any.

A clinical officer at the Coptic Hospital told the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers that at 9:00 pm on the 20th of May, 2021, they received a 15-year-old patient in the company of her father, Franklin Ntwiga Marangu.

The hospital then did a medical examination since she had run away from her home and did not report to school.

A few moments later she was discharged and her father accompanied her to their home located at the Jamhuri Showground quarters.

The management of the hospital revealed that in the early hours of Friday, the girl was rushed to the same hospital after she had collapsed at her home.

It is alleged that the girl’s father and her elder brother had beaten her. Her elder brother is a student at the Technical University of Kenya (TUK). The girl was pronounced dead on arrival at Coptic.

According to a clinical officer at Coptic, the girl’s body had bruises all over her body, indicating that she had been a victim of a serious assault.

While investigating, DCI officers from Kilimani recovered one PPR pipe from the family’s house which is believed to have been used during the assault. The PPR pipe is being held as evidence.
