Sh. 52 Million to Be Allocated to Schools in Naivasha to boost CBC Infrastructure

The Government of Kenya is set to spend Sh. 52 Million in the construction of 67 new classrooms meant to boost the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) in Naivasha Sub-County.

The funds will be used in preparing students who will be transitioning from primary to junior secondary schools.

The Naivasha Deputy County Commissioner Mutua Kisilu revealed that the construction of infrastructure will be done in phases.

The first phase will involve the building of 37 secondary schools out of the 41 sub-county secondary schools.

The other four secondary schools will be addressed in the second phase after funds have been made available.

According to Kisilu, the Ministry of Education will collaborate with the Ministry of Interior and other stakeholders among them NEMA officials and the Ministry of Public Works way of building classes before work the looming double intake. He revealed this during a multi-agency meeting held for consultation purposes.

The implementation will be closely monitoring and the schools’ boards of directors will work together with a multi-agency team to ensure that it becomes a success.

The County Director of Education Fredrick Osewe revealed in an earlier meeting that the government was planning to spend Sh. 426.3 million to build 541 classrooms in the 11 sub-counties before the transition to secondary school kicks in.

Besides, Osewe also revealed that each class was expected to cost around Sh. 788,000 per class and were to be built by contractors from the local area near each school. Funds will then be remitted directly to them at the sub-county level. The Director revealed that this was decided so as to promote local skilled personnel and to ensure that their skilled labour was utilized.

According to the director economic growth for the local people is also another reason for this.
