According to Shieywe Secondary School Principal Kefa Atsobwa, the compact academic calendar might affect the performance of the 2022 candidates in their upcoming national examinations.
Atsobwa said that the candidates have been affected greatly by the long break for elections which forced them to stay at home.
However, he also said that he is committed to ensuring that his school’s mean will increase from 4.2 to 4.5 in this year’s 2022 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.
He implored the candidates to use the time they have in focusing on their studies and revising for their examinations.
“I would therefore urge the 217 candidates to work very hard and emerge as winners in the forthcoming national examinations,” said Atsobwa.
Schools were closed in March 2020 following the outbreak of the novel coronavirus pandemic which paralyzed everything.
This led to learners losing a lot of learning time which has had to be recovered and normalization of the academic calendar gradually realized. Add the elections break and learners will have to really make good use of the short duration they have between now and when the examinations begin.
