Safaricom Foundation Injects Sh59 Million to Overhaul Cheptech Secondary School Infrastructure

Hamisi Constituency — Cheptech Secondary School has secured a transformative Sh59 million infrastructure grant from the Safaricom Foundation. The multi-million-shilling project aims to completely overhaul the institution’s learning facilities and elevate education standards in Hamisi Constituency.

This substantial investment targets the construction of modern learning spaces, equipping students with the resources needed for a competitive academic edge. Hamisi Member of Parliament, Charles Gimose, announced the funding, emphasizing the critical role of modern infrastructure in delivering quality education.

Major Infrastructure Upgrade

Under the comprehensive project plan, Cheptech Secondary School will undergo massive infrastructural expansion. The foundation will fund the construction and outfitting of nine new classrooms specifically designed for Grade 10 to Grade 12 learners.

To bridge the digital divide, the school will receive a fully equipped 40-seater ICT laboratory. Science education will also get a major boost with the addition of twin science laboratories tailored for Physics, Chemistry, and Biology practicals.

Administrative and sanitation facilities have not been left behind. The project covers a new administration block capable of accommodating 18 teachers, a modern kitchen, and 12-door pit latrines for both boys and girls. Additionally, the initiative includes a 50,000-litre water supply system and extensive landscaping to improve the overall school environment.

Leadership and Community Support

MP Charles Gimose lauded the collaborative efforts of the school board, parents, and local stakeholders in securing the grant. He reiterated his commitment to educational development within the constituency.

“Leadership is about going the extra mile to ensure that citizens receive quality services and equal opportunities for development,” Gimose stated. He expressed confidence that these upgrades will position Cheptech Secondary School among the top-tier educational institutions in the region.

Public Participation Called

To ensure transparency and community ownership, residents and stakeholders have been invited to a public participation meeting at the school. This forum will allow the community to present their views and support the project’s seamless implementation.
