President Uhuru Kenyatta has revealed that plans are being made to ensure all girls attend and complete school.
His Excellency promised that his government will ensure that future pandemics do not interfere with learning in schools.
The President was speaking during a virtual meeting he held with the United Kingdom PM Boris Johnson on Thursday.
The meeting was part of the greater Financial Campaign for the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) ahead of the Global Education Summit that shall be held in London between the 28th t0 29th of July 2021.
President Uhuru said that his government is focusing on digital integration in schools for all learners.
“We are keen to bridge the digital divide to improve access to education for all children by making available internet and digital tools,” said President Uhuru.
The President said that the plan that is underway will come a long way in mitigating the effects of learning losses that pandemics like COVID-19 cause. The two heads of state shall co-host the high-level ‘Global Education Summit: Refinancing GPE 2021-2025.
The aim of the campaign is to raise at least sh. 500b to help fund education in GPE beneficiary countries over the next half-decade.
