The Ministry of Education under the Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha issued the official 2020 School term dates and Calendar last year in 2019 before the start of the 2020 school calendar.
School term dates indicate when the schools should open, school term breaks (half-terms), the closing dates, the KCPE and KCSE examination dates, and the holidays.
2020 Term One School Dates Calendar
In the 2020 school term dates calendar, the schools open from the 6th of January 2020 for term one and close on the 10th of April 2020.
Term one school half-term breaks are set to begin from the 17th of February to the 21st of February 2020.
2020 Term Two School Dates Calendar
The term two school dates for 2020 starts with schools opening on the 4th of May 2020 and closes on the 7th of August 2020.
Schools will go for mid-term breaks on the 15th of June 2020 and resume on the 19th of June 2020.
August holidays will take a total of 3 weeks.
2020 Term Three School Dates Calendar
The last school term of the 2020 academic calendar starts on the 31st of August and closes early on the 30th of October for the non-candidates to give room for the official national examinations.
No serious activities take place in this term. Even the mid-term break is not provided.
2020 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education KCPE Examinations Dates
The 2020 KCPE primary school candidates will sit for the official Kenya Certificate of Primary Education national examinations from Monday the 2nd of November 2020.
2020 KCPE examinations will take four days and come to a close on Thursday the 5th of November 2020.
2020 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education KCSE Examinations Dates
Immediately after the end of 2020 KCPE national examinations, the secondary schools will usher in the 2020 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education national examinations.
KCSE 2020 will begin from the 6th of November 2020 and end on the 30th of November 2020, when the official KNEC examinations marking exercise will have begun.
