Mwea Primary School ECDE have come out on top in the singing game competitions under Class 802G at the National Music Festivals that are going on in Kisumu.
The school located in Embu beat other schools that were competing in the same category and defended the title that they had won back in 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic put everything on hold.
The pupils showed creativity that defied their age which is advocated in the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) by incorporating designated costumes made from sisal robes and hats from carton boxes into African traditional cultural dances.
The Mwea Primary School ECDE class is now going to perform before President William Samoei Ruto at the Kisumu State Lodge during the State Gala on the 24th of September 2022.
The other schools that represented Embu County were Gangara, Iveche, Kirima, Kiarimui, Mashamba and Michegethiu ECDE classes.
As Mwea Primary ECDE pupils used fly whisks made out of sticks and strings, learners from Gangara ECDE showed shades of brown on their faces that blended well with their brown-beaded costumes.
It was evident that the learners had grasped the songs without any problems going by the way they rendered them in exemplary fashion while also incorporating costumes that captured the attention of the adjudicators.
