AON Minet Kenya has enrolled services of an additional six government hospitals located in Kericho County to offer medical services to thousands of teachers in the region.
The hospitals that have been enrolled with AON Minet are Londiani, Kapkatet, Roret, Kericho County Referral Hospital, Soin-Sigowet and Fort Tenan Sub-County hospitals.
During the commissioning of the medical facilities at the Kericho County Referral Hospital grounds, Minet Kenya CEO Mr Sammy Muthui revealed that the move will benefit more than 8,000 teachers and their dependents.
“It is part of the strategy of the company to increase access to and bring medical services closer to teachers,” said Muthui.
Muthui revealed that in the last few years, Minet expanded the teachers’ medical scheme to five hundred and seventy medical centres in the country.
“This is an indication of our commitment to empowering teachers. We will continue to actively contribute to the health sector through our initiative of promoting good health and well-being,” added Muthui.
Since the inception of the scheme, its services have predominantly been offered in private and faith-based hospitals.
“We have heeded teachers’ requests for a variety of options, especially specialized treatment. We are having discussions with other counties to continuously partner with hospitals so that teachers can achieve medical care,” added Muthui.
Kericho County Governor Prof Paul Chepkwony praised the efforts made by the Scheme and urged more public-private partnerships within the healthcare ecosystem.
At the moment, the Minet medical scheme covers more than 1.2 Million teachers including 345,000 registered teachers and their dependents across the county.
