Two school-going girls have been rescued from a man who had been allegedly defiling them for almost a month in Migori County.
Security personnel rescued the students who are of age 15 on Saturday from a house in Kadongo trading center in Kowidi Sub-Location in Rachuonyo East Sub-County.
The two underage girls who come from the Nyakach sub-county left their homes a month ago but never returned.
One of the girls sat for her 2020 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and got 288 marks at a primary school in Kisumu County. The other girl is a Standard 7 pupil.
The two girls were found in the house of a carpenter and a Nyakach resident had recognized them and notified family members.
Michael Aoro, Assistant Chief of Kowidi sub-location, arrived at the carpenter’s house and took the two girls to Othoro Police Station where the police questioned them further. They then underwent medical tests at Othoro Hospital.
“The incident is strange because the man has been defiling the girls in his house. One of them is telling us that she used to sleep in a chair while the other was sleeping in the man’s bed,” said Aoro.
“But her statement does not make sense because she is not telling us why she left home and decided to sleep in a chair inside a house that does not belong to her relative,” he added.
The Police are still looking for the man who is large now following the incident.
“The man disappeared after realizing that the family members of the minor were in his house,” Aoro added.
Aoro promised that they will ensure that he is nabbed.
The assistant chief implored parents to take care of their children to ensure such incidents do not happen again.
“Let parents be keen to monitor movements of their children to ensure their safety. Defilement is a serious offense,” added Aoro.
