A male teacher had been nabbed following a Facebook post he posted on his fake Facebook account containing false and disturbing news about the current Teachers Service Commission (TSC) boss Dr Nancy Macharia.
The teacher identified as Jeremiah Mwavuganga aged 31 taught at Musiini Primary School located in Makueni County.
Jeremiah Mwavuganga had posted false information that the TSC CEO had died without even doing any groundwork on the same.
He was then arrested while at Makutano Shopping Centre in Nzaui.
DCI boss George Kinoti later revealed that the pursuit and arrest of the teacher were done after extensive forensic analysis to identify who had posted the suspicious post.
“Following the arrest of Mr Mwaviganga who has been a teacher at the school for four years, he was found in possession of a mobile phone that had been used in creating and posting the Facebook post that went viral. The Facebook account that was used as also confirmed to be his,” said Kinoti.
Mwavganga who comes from Wundanyi in Taita Taveta County was taken to the DCI Headquarters as he awaits being arraigned in court on Monday.
The DCI also warned the public to be responsible and avoid misusing social media platforms by spreading false news.
“Such conduct will be investigated and perpetrators will be brought to justice,” said a DCI spokesperson.
