Five staff members of the support staff of Lugulu Girls High School have been suspended for allegedly catalyzing students in staging a protest.
The members of staff include the cateress, two cooks, the school nurse, and the storekeeper.
In the letter, the five support staff shall be on leave until January 10, 2021.
Students had staged a protest last week against the alleged rape of their schoolmate.
A number of students alleged that the attacker even tried to suffocate the victim but the victim managed to scream and woke up other girls. The attacker then disappeared into the darkness.
“We do not know why the students have been sent home since yet they were demanding justice for one of their own who was defiled,” said one of the suspended staff members to Nation Africa.
The worker revealed that one of them was suspended for inciting other subordinate staff to protest over salaries’ delay.
“We were given half of our salaries in October and November,” said one of the staff members to Nation Africa.
The locals around the school accused the Principal of Lugulu Girls High School of running the school with an iron fist.
