The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has issued guidelines concerning the payment of contractors’ dues.
KNEC has instructed the unpaid contractors to click on the link https://bit.ly/3ibv5AB and provide all the needed information.
Some of the details that teachers are required to enter in the provided Google form are as follows.
- Full names
- Stationed institution & position
- Phone number
- Amount not paid
- Your current working station
- The position you worked for e.g. Centre Manager, Supervisor, or invigilator.
The examiner’s contracted professionals comprise center managers i.e. principals and headteachers, invigilators, supervisors, and security personnel.
There has been an outcry from teachers who have complained over delays in payments.
However, it should be noted that those who are contracted to man the KCSE examinations have already received payment.
According to KNEC, center managers receive Kshs. 500 as subsistence allowance.
Principals of secondary schools received Kshs. 500 daily allowance for a period of 18 days.
The highest-paid supervisors will take home a total of Sh. 12,510. On the other hand, the highest-paid invigilator earned Kshs. 9860.
However, the Examiners will not pay Deputy School Heads even though they were involved during the examination period as they were also present. Something that is awkwardly weird on the part of KNEC.
Teachers handling science subjects and prepared and administered practicals during the KCSE examination period will also not receive any payments from KNEC.
180,000 teachers manned last year’s national examinations. 286,000 other professionals were also put on contract to administer the 2020 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) as well as the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.
