The Principal to Kinna Secondary school, Simon Guyo has been arrested for allegedly engaging in examination malpractice in the school. The school is located within Isiolo County.
Together with the Head of Institution, five other examination officials have been arrested among them one supervisor for engaging in cheating at the beginning of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination on the 14th of March 2022.
Mr Guyo was arrested alongside Hassan Wario, Muktar Galgalo, Caroline Kendi and Ali Hussein Godana and Safia Adan (the supervisor) for allegedly engaging in examination malpractice using their mobile phones.
According to a police report, four more mobile that is believed to belong to students were also found hidden in the toilet.
This was after it was realized that a huge number of students were going to the toilet and then back.
In the two phones which have been switched off, images contained materials that were believed to have been in the Chemistry paper which was done in the afternoon.
The phones also contained answers to the questions which the candidates rushed to go and have a look at before returning to their respective classes,
The six individuals are currently being held at the Kinna Police Station while they wait to be arraigned in court.
In the ongoing national examinations, 831,026 candidates are sitting for the examinations countrywide.
The Cabinet Secretary for Education Prof George Magoha, on his part, has implored teachers not to flout the given directives regarding the national examinations. According to him, any teacher found engaging in any examination irregularity will face the full force of the law.
