Headteachers of primary schools are set to hold the 16th annual Kenya Primary Schools Head Teachers Association (KEPSHA) delegates conference which will be held on the 27th of December 2021.
KEPSHA chairman Johnson Nzioka revealed that headteachers will meet at the Sheikh Zayed grounds located in Mombasa.
Nzioka said that the issues to be discussed will be revealed at a later date. However, other teachers did reveal that they will prioritize challenges facing the implementation of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
According to Nzioka, the decision on the KEPSHA meeting which will be held for four consecutive days was made during a meeting at their Nairobi KEPSHA headquarters. The KEPSHA chairman also revealed that the theme for the event is Headteachers: Leading in crisis, reimagining the future.
Usually, more than 10,000 headteachers of primary schools attend the conference in the morning and then spend the afternoon recreating on the shores of the Indian Ocean.
However, in 2020 their joy was cut short due to the reporting of the first case of the Coronavirus which necessitated measures to curb the spread of COVID-19.
Pressed on more information on the way the conference will be held, the KEPSHA chair revealed that more on the same will be shared later but promised that the meeting will adhere to the Ministry of Health’s protocols on COVID-19.
In 2019 over 7,000 principals attended the Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association (KESSHA) while KEPSHA also held there before the outbreak of COVID-19.
Mombasa city has been the go-to place for headteachers from both primary and secondary schools over the years with the city benefitting immensely with the visiting of almost 20,000 heads of institutions bringing with them cash to spend on various products and services in the coastal town.
