ICT and TPAD Champions to Ensure 100% TPAD Compliance in Their Respective Schools

TPAD and ICT Champions in schools have been given the responsibility of following up to ensure that the term three TPAD2 filling process is a 100% success.

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) opened TPAD 2 portal for online filing on the 20th of May for the third term for accounts activation and filing on the portal.

Nairobi TSC County Director Jane Njage implored the ICT and TPAD champions to help in the process to ensure 100% TPAD compliance in their respective schools.

Njage also mentioned some key roles teachers could play during the term.

A TSC Memo addressed to all TSC Regional Directors said that teachers should strictly follow the TPAD Calendar of Activities.

She asked the Directors of TSC to ensure that all their staff have created TPAD accounts and filled them with ratings before deadline day.

Besides, Njage warned teachers not to cancel any TPAD2 ratings because this will affect the process of filling and appraising on TPAD.

Below is Njage’s TSC Memo addressed to all principals, head teachers, and Curriculum Support Officers.

RE: TERM III ONLINE TPAD

TPAD online system opened on the 20th of May, 2021, and shall be closed on 23rd July 2021.

You are therefore expected to:

i.             Adhere to TPAD calendar of activities.

ii.            Ensure that all staff under you have created accounts for term iii

iii.           Appraise all teachers in your institutions before the deadline.

iv.           There is no canceling of any appraisal.

ICT and TPAD champions are expected to facilitate the process and ensure 100% compliance in their schools.

In April, TSC listed 2,349 primary school teachers and 827 secondary school teachers on a blacklist for not filling their TPAD2 accounts appropriately. The accounts were either awaiting submission or appraisal or countersigning or that the TPAD2 filling was incomplete.

Countersigning and appraisal is done by the schools’ administrators.

The Commission then several show-cause letters were issued to the teachers in question over what the Commission felt were TPAD offenses.

In the last term, teachers were given a deadline of until the 6th of April 2021 to ensure they have fully appraised and submitted ratings online.

TSC closed the submission of TPAD ratings and appraisals on April 6, 2021.

According to the TPAD calendar of activities, teachers are required to hold meetings concerning TPAD before schools open. In those meetings, all staff must be present, that is, all teachers, deputy school heads, and heads of schools.

The meeting should take place in the last week of the school holidays and all staff should attend.

Heads of institutions should make sure teachers provide their professional documents during the first week after schools reopen for approval.

Lesson observations by teachers should start from the second week as they begin to identify and document professional gaps in fellow teachers.

Lesson observation is a continuous process throughout the term. For this term (Third Term), this should continue till the tenth week.

Teachers should also activate their TPAD accounts for the third term on time now that TPAD is open for access.
