Kabarak University Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof. Henry Kiplang’at has implored the government to increase the number of capitation funds meant for students studying in private universities.
According to Prof Kiplangat, the move will enable more financially challenged students to access quality education and in turn, contribute to increasing manpower in the job market.
While in Nakuru High School during the presentation of views regarding the CBC to the Presidential Working Party on Education Reforms, Prof Kiplang’at lauded the government for the introduction of the policy to allow government-sponsored students to be admitted to private universities.
According to him, private universities support the Competence Based Curriculum (CBC) and adequate infrastructure and equipment have been set up to ensure that all students studying Education-related courses will be able to cover units that are relevant to it.
“We are well equipped to ensure that all students studying Education-related courses cover course units which are relevant to the CBC,” said Kiplang’at.
In his view, if the CBC is implemented properly, it will produce all rounded citizens on a consistent basis with competent skills for their self-development and the development of society at large.
