Parents from Garissa have called on the Ministry of Education to clarify on whether Junior Secondary School (JSS) learners will be wearing different or same school uniforms as primary schools.
“Since JSS will be domiciled in primary schools, now the government should tell us how the JSS learners will be differentiated from the other primary school learners as regards to school uniform,” said one Garissa resident who opted to be anonymous.
“Grade seven, lower primary and class eight learners should be given different school uniforms for easy identifying,” said another resident from Garissa Ndogo Estate.
On his part, Garissa KNUT Executive Abdirizak Hussein said that the issue with school uniforms had become a delicate issue and need to be handled with care.
Another parents from Tana County complained, “The CS is sleeping on the job. We have less than three weeks before schools reopen and parents are not aware of what JSS learners will wear,” lamented Beatrice Mwende, a parent of a Grade Six learner in Madogo, Tana County.
She added, “We need to know early enough what JSS learners will be wearing before we are caught pants down in this hard economic times. We need subsidies back or we will have school buildings without students.
