A Form 4 Candidate allegedly hacked a middle-aged woman to death today the 21st of September in Marani, Kisii County.
According to the area chief Mr Samwel Omuna, he was informed about the incident by villagers. He then hurried to confirm and ensure there is order at the scene.
“I visited the scene and found the mutilated body lying in a pool of blood,” said Mr Omuna.
According to eyewitnesses, the assailant was identified as Sebastian Ombae, a 17-year-old boy from the area who ran away after committing the heinous act.
At the time of publishing the story, the cause for disagreement between the two had not been established yet.
The deceased was identified as Crecentiah Kemunto and her body was taken to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem.
Kisii County Commissioner Hallan Macharia directed the commencement of investigations into the matter, arrest and arraignment in court of the suspect.
Following the heinous act, residents in the area have called on the government to increase security in the area to curb similar incidents.
According to them, unregulated consumption of illicit brew (chang’aa) and drug abuse by the youth in the area are the main causes of the rise in vices that have made the village unsafe.
“If we do not raise alarm to the administration, we will all perish,” said one of the villagers.
