Dr Peter Ogudoro has received Facebook’s reward after developing a teacher’s platform called ‘Nigerian Teachers’.
The reward was issued after the Nigerian teacher’s online platform was deemed helpful and engaging among Nigerian teachers.
The good news was revealed via the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) after the Nigerian Teachers Platform revealed the information.
The reward means the Ogudoro is now a member of the 131 multinational corporation’s group of 131 outstanding and elite individuals.
The platform brings together more than 240,000 teachers and helps them by changing attitudes and even training. The platform is free and provides professional aid and opportunities to teachers.
In the statement, it was revealed that the award was issued by the Facebook Community Accelerator Programme. In the programme, those awarded receive resource support as well as enhance their engagement with communities.
The purpose of the Community Accelerator Programme is to provide sustained support for the award winners’ communities on Facebook.
Ogudoro’s motivation to develop the platform was to develop an answer to the challenges he faced while trying to convince Nigerian policymakers to adopt and promote learner-centred approaches in teaching and effective systems of managing careers.
On his part, Ogudoro thanked Facebook for the award and revealed that he was intending to improve the platform to help governments world over to train and retrain tutors to meet the global standards of education.
Ogudoro is an alumnus of the University of Reading in the United Kingdom where he graduated with a PhD in Education with a bias on Career Management, Attitude Modification, and Diffusion of Innovations in Education.
According to the statement, Ogudoro has benefitted immensely in the development of educational experiences around the world specifically in more than ten research institutions.
