Dr. David Njeng’ere replaces outgoing Dr. Mercy Karogo as KNEC CEO

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has appointed Dr. David Njengére as their new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

KNEC chairperson made the announcement on Wednesday in a statement to the press.

“Upon completing all the necessary recruitment procedures, and following the process, the council is proud to announce that Dr. Njeng’ere has been appointed as the new CEO of KNEC, effective the 1st of July 2022 for a term of five years,” read a statement by Dr. Osanti.

Dr. David Njeng’ere is replacing the outgoing Dr. Mercy Karogo whom the term has come to an end.

The new CEO’s first thing in office will be improving the transformative gains that the Examiner achieved in the management of exams specifically in ending examination leakages as well as maintaining the integrity and credibility of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) and the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations.

The new CEO will have to ensure that delivery of service is effective in the administration of assessments under the new curriculum – the Competency-Based Curriculum.

Dr. David Njeng’ere has previously worked in various places among them the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Reforms and KNEC itself, where he played a crucial role in the development of the new Curriculum.

At the moment, Dr. Njeng’ere is a special advisor to the Cabinet Secretary for Education Prof George Magoha. He has served in this position for three years now.
