Deadline Issued For Registration on CP2 Portal

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has issued a deadline directing Contracted Professionals to register on the CP2 portal.

Contracted Professionals comprises Centre Managers (Principals and Headteachers), Supervisors, Invigilators and Security Personnel who ensure safety during the national examinations.

KNEC has warned those yet to register on the CP2 portal to do so by midnight today and ensure that they have downloaded their letters.

Heads of Institutions and teachers who shall be involved in manning the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) and the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) are to register via the portal and through that also submit their details.

242,406 teachers have been designated to supervise the national examination and marking. This was revealed during an inter-ministerial address held at the Kenya School of Government on Friday, Friday 18 2022.

During the meet, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Nancy Macharia said that the teachers will be under KNEC and shall serve as either supervisor, invigilators, centre managers or examiners.

“It is only the best teachers who have never been involved in disciplinary issues who have been identified as part of TSC’s push to ensure integrity in the administration of examinations,” said Dr Macharia.

The examiner’s CEO Dr Njeng’ere revealed that a total of 831,015 teachers will sit for the KCSE examination while a further 1,225,507 candidates have registered to sit for the KCPE examination.

The numbers represent an increase as compared to last year’s number of candidates sitting for the national examinations.

This year (2021) has seen an increase by thirty-three thousand, seven hundred and fifty-five candidates. In 2020 there were 1,191,752 candidates sitting for the KCPE.

For KCSE, a further 78,034 candidates will sit for the secondary examination. 752,981 candidates sat for the KCSE examination in 2020.

”KCPE centres will be served from 491 distribution centres, while KCSE centres will be served from 483 distribution centres,” said Njeng’ere.

This year the KCPE examination will be done between the 7th of March and the 9th of March while the KCSE examination will be done between the 28th of February and the 1st of April 2022.

However, despite a huge number of learners have registered for the national examinations, 12,416 candidates failed to sit for KCPE while 9,373 missed out on their KCSE examinations.

According to the Ministry of Education, this was because of the COVID-19 pandemic which may have directly or indirectly caused adolescent pregnancy and early marriage.
