CS Magoha: We Have Released Sh. 9.3 Billion to both Primary and Secondary Schools

The Ministry of Education has announced that they have now released Sh. 9.3 billion to primary and secondary schools across the country.

Secondary schools or rather high schools have received Sh. 6.5 billion while primary schools have received Sh. 2.8 billion.

Cabinet Secretary for Education Prof George Magoha revealed yesterday that the government has sent the money during the week.

Prof Magoha spoke while commissioning three classroom blocks at Sagam Secondary School in Gem, Siaya County. He said that secondary schools would receive half of the money soon.

“Half of the remaining amount for secondary schools will be sent,” said CS Magoha.

This will be a huge respite for school administrators who were almost reaching a dead-end regarding the running of their schools with staff yet to be paid yet most parents have not paid school fees.

School administrators have had to contend with a myriad of challenges following the closure of all learning institutions in March 2020 when the first case of COVID-19 was reported.

The Government through the cabinet secretary for Education George Magoha directed school administrators not to send children home for fees following the reopening of schools in October 2020.

This forced school heads to deal with financial challenges and managing schools has only gotten easier with some faithful parents taking responsibility to pay school fees in addition to the government released much-needed funds to schools.
